successful in business we can get what we need with loans. Also if we were not in
the cooperative we would not attend literacy classes. Now I can read and write.

Our life is better after being involved with cooperative. The money lenders rates
very high. Now with the cooperative we get the loan better interest rate so profit
margins better.
8
Yes this loan has changed my life. We had no money before; we have school
savings in cooperative.
9
No data documented [
due to the young man getting the loan through his mother
and the interview was undertaken while he was operating his business limited the
interview process which was carried out across the counter
].
In the above question the data speaks for itself. The provision of microcredit in these participants’
lives has been life changing. What was noticeable during my fieldwork was the drop off of data
after participant (3). The reason for that was due to Ramchandra KC who translated for
participants (1–3) English language skills were more developed. Participants (4–9) were
translated by Shila KC who is developing her English language skills and this project provided an
opportunity to practise those skills.
Therefore, the volume of data translated became less. Inclusive of her role as translator, Shila KC
was also acting in her role as the HwH coordinator during our fieldwork. So her days were
demanding on a number of levels. However, the trust that was gained in this process opened up
the opportunity to gather peripheral data from Shila KC documented on page 29.
