Women run enterprises provides opportunities for community employment
Participants: 1, 3, 4 employed either family member’s or people from villages. The cement
manufacturer employed only men and the carpet weaver employed only women. The cement
manufacturer employees worked at the employer’s house and the carpet weavers were provided
a loom, material and pattern to work from home.

half the businesses (53% employed staff, while additional 31% had no staff

Business Growth
The HwH fieldwork results highlight that there is a natural progression in growing micro
businesses. The consequences for not doing so would be detrimental. Therefore, an assumption
could be drawn that this underlying force kicks starts the desire for business growth. However,
what was clearly evident was the participants in this fieldwork were connected to an
entrepreneurial spirit.
