Conclusion
Upon reflection my 2011 fieldwork and journal entries have captured aspects of what
Muhammad Yunus felt so strongly about when he took his microfinance model from being,
“…
ad hoc and emotional…
” and needing to “
…create an institutional answer upon which the poor
could rely
.”

What this report clearly shows is that
HwH emulation of microfinance with
its ONUSCCL and SNUsacc banking
facilities has created an institutional
answer upon which the Nepalese poor
can rely.
The HwH microfinance fieldwork is
only one aspect of the many projects
this small organisation is involved with.
I hope that this report in some small
way contributes to building upon HwH future aims.
The ‘shared experiences’ of rural women is something I will continue to think through.
Questions that remain are, “What type of ‘
scaffolding’
will need to be built to bring business
women from the developing world and the developed world closer together?” “How can their
awareness of one another be heightened—encouraged?” “And what will emerge when their
shared experiences meet?”
